Methodology
How RoomTone generates a recipe
RoomTone does not try to diagnose you or score your worthiness to be productive. It uses a simple heuristic model: identify the strongest friction in the room, reduce that friction first, then propose a first-start ritual that matches the current energy and time window.
Inputs that matter most
- Mode: different room jobs need different tolerances. Deep work, study, admin, decompression, and calls do not need identical setups.
- Energy: a foggy brain needs a smaller first step than a steady one.
- Room friction: light, noise, clutter, privacy, and device drift shape whether a start feels possible.
- Time: a 10-minute reset should not behave like a 90-minute planning ritual.
Design principles
- Clear one surface, not the entire room.
- Protect the first output before chasing the perfect environment.
- Use a fallback route when the room cannot be made ideal.
- Treat interruption tolerance as part of the plan, not as user failure.
Sources and framing
- RoomTone is built around practical environmental friction: light, noise, clutter, privacy, phone drift, time pressure, and task type.
- It is a heuristic planning app, not therapy, medical treatment, or a formal workplace assessment.
RoomTone is intentionally lightweight. It is best used as a practical reset aid, not as clinical guidance or a formal ergonomic assessment.
